Should we change what Socialism is called so right-wingers wont be so afraid of it?
Good idea...but what name would encomp all of our socialist programs from the U.S., to include Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, police and firefighters, public education, highways and roadways, the VA medical system, national parks, m or public transit, our bridges and tunnels, the U.S. Post Office, our courts, libraries, and all of the checks-and-balances agencies that protect the American consumers (FDA, FAA, OSHA, etc.)? We could try "democratic peripherals" perhaps, or maybe "capitalists' disciplinary cooperative" or simply "yin-yang balances".... We could use the words "social safety net" but right-wingers tend to be anti-social anything unless millionaires and billionaires are involved. "Checks and balances" comes to mind, since this is essentially what socialism is meant to provide in a capitalist society, and vice-versa. This question does provoke some thought...
