Lost a secondary portable hard drive, now having problem installing a new printer,?

When trying to install the new printer software, it fails as it is unable to delete an old file relating to the other printer. This file was on the broken secondary hard drive, I have tried delving into the registry but unable to find it, has anyone any ideas as to how I can remove this file so that I can install my new printer. Old printer was HP 300 new printer HP 2100? ( I think, I am submitting this in work away from my P.C). Thanks in anticipation for your help.
