It could be either. HCl is a more powerful acid with a lower pH but sulfuric is still very strong. If you're worried about the lung cancer thing, you would need to be exposed to it for a much longer amount of time, especially since what you had in cl was probably no more than a single 500 mL bottle or something. And even then, in high school, the teacher would never let kids handle a strong acid in solution over say 1.0 molar concentration. So I really wouldn't worry.
